Meet our Chancellors and Patrons

A Chancellor is a university’s public figurehead. They are an institution’s most prominent ambassador and act as a role model for students and as a recognisable and respected representative of the university.

The Chancellor of Children’s University is currently Michael Morpurgo, the English author, poet, playwright and librettist, best known for his work in children's literature. He was the third person to become Children's Laureate and held the title from 2003 to 2005. His signature is on the certificates we award to students and he supports us however he can. You can find out more about Michael Morpurgo on his website and watch a video of him talking about Children’s University here on YouTube.

Many of our Children’s University centres also have their own local Chancellors.

Some also have Patrons; people who act as ambassadors for the work we do and champion our cause within their specialist areas.
