Become a Children's University
Who runs Children's Universities?
Children’s University is a national movement that is co-ordinated across the country by partner organisations. These partners include Local Authorities, Universities and FE Institutions, local charities and other social enterprises. Our local Children’s Universities work with schools, children and other learning partners in their areas to help us reach over 110,000 children each year. CU Trust is the charity at the heart of the Children’s University network – we help establish and support our local partners with the tools and support needed.
Why set up a Children’s University?
Our partners choose to use Children’s University as a way to strengthen and support their local communities and improve the outcomes for children in their area. Many Universities and Colleges, for example, use Children’s University as an outreach initiative. In 2017 Children’s University was awarded the National Education Opportunities Network (NEON) award for Widening Access Initiative. You can read more about the impact of Children’s University and the evaluations of it here.
Where to start
The development of each new local Children’s University centre is unique to the community in which it operates.
